Sunday Blatherings

(My amazing kiddos in the late 70's)

I  spent some time last week taking pics of old pics with my iPhone and was pleasantly surprised by the results.  This was one of the pics (above) which wasn't in the best of shape to begin with.  When I sent it to my son and daughter, they didn't forget to remind me about the 7 stitches my son got in his forehead around that time -- honestly it wasn't my fault (LOL)

This is another week that flew by in a flash. I was very busy all week between errands taking a loved one to some medical appointments for an, as yet, undiagnosed medical issue. She is having more tests next week as well.  Today we are off for a long ride and a late lunch somewhere.  What's going on with all of you today?

  1. What a great idea, taking shots of old photos with the iPhone...I did take some of my framed pics around my office, which delighted my grandchildren.

I scanned a few old photos for a post on An Interior Journey this week.

I can't wait to read The Children....and hope to get my hands on Britt-Marie Was Here. Should I read My Grandmother first?

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    1. Hi Laurel, I tried scanning pictures a few years back but, this is so much easier!

I've read both of Backman's earlier books but, I don't think it is necessary to read My Grandmother first.

  2. I've taken pictures of some old photos with my phone and had good results, too. Need to be more methodical and make a project out of organizing them all! Looking forward to your thoughts on The Children.

    1. Yes, organizing the old photos will be a bit more time consuming. The Children isn't bad but, I am not enjoying it as much as The Good House.

  3. Enjoy all of your new books! Revisiting old pictures is fun. I went through a stage where I was scanning them and that was time consuming but enjoyable.

    1. Yes, I'm hoping this 3rd Backman book is good. I definitely like #1 more than #2.

  9. I've read two of Backman's books and was in the minority there! I have requested for the LaRose book but with the geographical restrictions I am not sure I am going to get that one! Your books look all really interesting.

  12. Cute kids! I haven't taken any photos of old photographs with my iphone, but my cousin did. Her results on some were not as good as yours.

I hope you love all your books, and that all the test results for your loved one are good news.

  13. Love the photo, Diane. It came out very well!

The Mother is one that I've been eyeing and may end up on my wish list at some point. I'm looking forward to reading Backman's new book.

I hope you have a good week. Tomorrow I enroll Mouse in kindergarten for the fall (I guess it's really in late summer, isn't it?).

  14. I hadn't thought of taking photos of old photos. I've been scanning the negatives, but that picks up lots of dust and is a pain to process. I like your method better.

I read The Last Bookaneer and found it way to slow moving for my tastes. The audio was very good though, so I kept listening. :)

  15. I have LaRose on my iPad from either Netgalley or Edelweiss. I love Louise Erdrich and will read it soon. My sister went on a trip to Pittsburgh, where I was born, and visited the house where I lived until I was two (my parents had to live with my dad's parents because it was after WWII and there was a recession) and then the next house we lived in when my sister was born. She took lots of pictures. It was amazing to see what those houses look like now!
